EE Welcomes Jada, Helps with Bucket List
Thursday, February 11, 2016
Over the last few weeks, the Central New York community has been introduced to a dog named Jada.
Jada recently was rescued from a Syracuse home and soon after was diagnosed with cancer. Staff at the Humane CNY, which is caring for Jada, wanted to help her live out her remaining days by creating a bucket list of special activities.
The Elmcrest Elementary community recently helped Jada cross a few items off that list by inviting her and Humane CNY Director Christine McNeely to the school. Jada attended a special assembly where EE library media specialist Renee Romance read the book Dogku by Andrew Clements and Tim Bowers. Then each EE classroom presented Jada with hand-made greeting cards and EE Principal Daphne Valentine named Jada an Elmcrest Eagle of the Month for her resiliency.
In addition to the cards, EE students and staff presented Jada and McNeely with donations for the Humane CNY.
